The purpose of the study is to investigate the relations among social anxiety, internet use, social support and peer relationship in early adolescents. The participants were 1361 1st and 2nd grade middle school students in Incheon and Gyeonggi area. The collected data were statistically analyzed through independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe test, Chi-square test and simple regression analysis. The results of the study were as follows: First, early adolescents¡¯ social anxiety, internet use, social support and peer relationship differed by their gender. Second, early adolescents¡¯ internet use, social support and peer relationship differed by their social anxiety levels. Adolescents with higher levels of social anxiety were more likely to show high frequency of internet use, low social support and poor peer relationships. Third, early adolescents¡¯ internet use according to their social anxiety levels had an effect on social support and peer relationship. Internet use of the middle-level social anxiety group had a negative influence on social support, emotional stability, and help in peer relations. In contrast, internet use of the high-level social anxiety group decreased conflict and competition in peer relations.
